because it’s absolutely vital to self-confidence. Self-confidence has never been built on negative thinking. Negative thinking is the result of fear and fear is the antithesis of positive thinking. Nothing can hamper your confidence like fear. It’s the master defeater of self-confidence.

Positive thinking builds positive hormones in the body.

Positive thinking controls positive hormones. positive hormones, in turn, control positive emotions. Positive hormones promote good health. Negative thinking promotes negative hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Negative thinking contributes to poor health by provoking negative hormones.

Although it may appear to be fairly simple on the surface, the underlying hormone manipulation the body goes through is what controls this fear or lack thereof. When the body is in a stress mode, as it is when you’re in fear, your body releases cortisol, a fight or flight hormone that elevates other stress hormones in your body, like adrenaline primarily.  Even though adrenaline is a necessary stimulant in a fight or flight situation, too much exposure to adrenaline has the ability to do massive amounts of damage to the body. This is due to the prolonged exposure to your own body’s cortisol it is not healthy for the body and actually does do massive damage to it.

According to Wikipedia;

“signs and symptoms due to prolonged exposure to cortisol; Signs and symptoms may include: high blood pressureabdominal obesity but with thin arms and legs, reddish stretch marks, a round red face, a fat lump between the shouldersweak musclesweak bonesacne, and fragile skin that heals poorly. Women may have more hair and irregular menstruation. Occasionally there may be changes in mood, headaches, and a chronic feeling of tiredness.“

With all the damage cortisol can do to the body, it’s evident to me to keep this hormone under control. That means keeping your fear under control. That also means keeping your anger under control, as both of the emotions control the amount of cortisol your body is going to release. The more afraid and angry you get the more cortisol is released into your body doing more and more damage and bringing the end result of that cycle much quicker. That end result of that cycle is always illness and disease, due to the nature of what these hormones do to the body, there again proving the power of positive thinking. Yes, positive thinking changes all of that. It resets your hormones to generate positive responses in your body that can only benefit your cause.
