Some of the challenging components of playing a sport are conditioning, practice, discipline, patience, and the bringing together of timing and energy. One of the greatest benefits of sports participation is to make new friends and to connect with others and learn about trust and teamwork. There is a group energy that happens when people come together to participate in the same event. But successful couples tend to share part of a confidence continuity that allows one mate to take up where the other lets off. Usually positive in nature, it has the ability to increase the level of confidence in each individual, thus prolonging the union. It starts with the desire to give to the relationship.

Such men often seem quiet, retiring and competent to others, but are likely to behave like bullies at home, especially towards their family – the captive audience.

Characterized by weakness and dependency, anyone with low esteem tends to behave like a doormat, always trying to please, often at their own expense. They are usually the last to appreciate their negative circumstances which many others can easily see. Often they take their treatment without a whimper, no matter how degrading, violent and brutal, in return for the continuing attention, approval, and self-reinforcement they crave. In time, for both men and women, they lose their self-respect entirely, their friends gradually disappear and they become dependent upon their job as workaholics, upon friends or relatives, or upon each other, especially for self-reinforcement and validation. Such relationships are likely to exclude others, becoming increasingly limiting, claustrophobic and destructive in the end.

Who the heck am I and why should you listen to what I have to say about confidence?

I’m a dating trainer living in California and I’ve studied many different styles of “pickup” from mystery methods, direct methods, indirect methods, NLP and some hypno-techniques. I have spent a lot of time and energy gaining this knowledge. I have found one thing to be true in almost all of the different styles and training offered, they all need confidence to really be successful. They may not always say it strait up but a typical and ordinary dude needs this confidence to approach women regardless of method. I generally believe in meaning and method over flashy maneuvers. Not to disparage, “tricks” should be employed to put “polish” on a “game” but people need the basics first; and the most basic and necessary of all of the things a guy needs to know is confidence with women.

How can you create a winning and confident mind-set?

The very first step in developing confidence is to create a positive frame of mind in regards to failure. It is a fact that people sometimes fail when they approach females. Think about baseball. If a guy gets a hit 4 out of 10 times at bat consistently, he is a “Rock-star”, bound for fame and fortune. For women it is similar. If you get 4-10 women interested you are doing quite well. Like anything you need to work at it and will get better over time. You need to get a thick skin where it comes to approaching women and not let it influence your self-assurance.

Why do women like confident men?

It mainly has to do with the perception of status. Women want to view their man or prospective man as important. They want someone who is worthy of their respect and admiration. It is not that you are not worthy of this if you lack confidence, just that she will not realize it. It is really a primal thing, coming from deep within a woman’s emotional brain. All women desire an “alpha male” or a leader, even if they are quite successful themselves. The easiest way for a man to display this is through confidence. This emotion is not something that most women can control either. It is an emotional reaction. Her logical brain may very well be interested nice and sweet guys but her emotional side will always be irresistibly drawn to a confident charmer.

Confidence Does Not Mean Talking About Me

Self confidence with women does not mean that you have to express your own virtues to get women interested in you. True self confidence means that you don’t have to express your own virtues. The best way to get women interested in you is to be interested in them. The best way to do this, again, is to ask questions about her. It’s the choices you make after you get up that decides your fate. The choices you make decide how good of a player you want to become. They dictate how good you’re going to be. I’m sure you’re one that’s going to get back up and keep going but it’s how you keep going that’s important.

The choices you make here are indicative of whether you can build self-confidence in sports for yourself. Do you learn from your mistakes or no? If your pride more important than your confidence? Don’t confuse the two. They’re different. Pride is a display of confidence only. It’s not confidence in itself. It’s simply a display of confidence. Those trying to ‘fake it ’til they make it’ know this very well.

Unfortunately, that’s about all you can do with pride, Fake It Until You Make It. Real self-confidence in sports comes from knowledge, practice, desire, and perseverance.

  2. Vicarious Learning-Seeing someone else who you can relate to do well at something or succeed at something can help you to believe that you, too, can succeed. A child seeing his friend hit a baseball can start to believe that he can put his bat on the ball with some power too.
  3. Modeling Someone Who Inspires You-When you see someone who you admire do something well, you can imitate his or her actions. Watching a singer perform a song brilliantly can inspire a young artist to do the same thing. This “modeling” can help to grow your self-confidence.
  4. Social Persuasion-Receiving encouraging words from a parent, a coach or someone you trust can help you to feel like you can do something successfully. This, too, can strengthen your self-confidence.

Unfortunately, people who do not get any of these kinds of experiences are likely to have little or no self-confidence.   So, if you want to build self-confidence in yourself, in someone you care about or your child, consider facilitating one or all of these kinds experiences. If you do, confidence can build in a short period of time but keep in mind, the more experience you get it the stronger it gets.
